Garibaldi Glass is a privately held, well established Burnaby based glass fabrication facility currently employing approximately 180 staff and servicing international markets. Garibaldi is a leading glass fabricator in a modern 160,000 square foot facility. We are a make to order facility with short lead times. The company is on a journey to becoming world class and is employing continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to achieve this.

MILLWRIGHT

We seek an experienced Millwright who enjoys variety in their work, wants to achieve personal growth and development in their career, and is a true team player.

Reporting to the Maintenance and Facilities Leader, the Millwright is responsible for specific millwright/electrical duties, as it applies to the maintenance and upgrades for current plant equipment to comply with current CSA standards and WorkSafeBC regulations.

Key Areas of Contribution

– Completing all necessary guarding upgrades as specified by WorkSafeBC to operating and non-operating plant equipment as directed.
– Completing any additional repairs and modifications or upgrades that will enhance the operating efficiency and or life cycle of the equipment.
– Assisting in teardowns, re-assembly and/or installation of new equipment as required.
– Ensuring breakdowns are handled in the most efficient manner
– Carrying out any Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Electronic Control system repairs or adjustments on any equipment, as required.
– Performing preventative maintenance as laid down by company and machine manufacturer’s recommendations.
– Ensuring that all work is completed to schedule and cost effectively.
– Ensuring that all company safety standards are adhered to.
– Meeting new machine installation deadlines, making the machine available for production at the earliest opportunity.
– Ordering parts and services.
– Keeping accurate records against all machines and departments.
– Ensuring all maintenance-generated paperwork conforms to company procedures.
– Participating in ongoing maintenance projects as assigned by the Leader.
– Other tasks and duties as assigned by Leader.

Qualifications

– Valid BC or Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright ticket
– Minimum of 2 years millwright experience in a manufacturing environment
– Excellent trouble shooting skills
– PLC, welding and fabrication experience. A current welding ticket would be a distinct advantage
– Experience in reading diagrams, schematic drawing, hydraulic and pneumatic experience
– Able to work weekends and to work different shifts
– Strong English language communication skills — oral and written
– Ability to prioritize workload and effectively meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute to a team effort when required
– Must have knowledge of guarding installation practices and have own tools
